Immunity has a mental and a physical side.
I can do a TED-talk on what happens when you neglect the mental one. I’ve been trying to put that experience into words for years.
But today, I saw it in a different light. I watched a video describing health as a generator with physical and mental health being the two halves of a whole.
Not sides but halves. Same thing, just a different way to think about it. A shorter shortcut.
But what struck me most is the video showing the generator as a circle.
Only a circle is a whole. It has no end. And no sides, just parts.
For one to stay healthy, that generator needs to keep moving, obviously. But I finally saw how if one part of the generator slows down, the whole thing does. And inversely, how you can’t accelerate one part without accelerating the other. Each adds to the total momentum.
This reminded me of two things. That my job as a writer is to simplify. That’s all. And that exercise is non-optional. It brings light and energy to the whole.
Like always, I was not wrong. I was just half-right.
