I cannot not learn. I don’t think I could even if I tried to.
It sounds like something to brag about but it’s really hard to switch it off and simply relax, as a normal homo sapiens would.
Yet, over the last two days, I’ve been in the countryside, away from my usual learning patterns.
I found new ways to learn, of course. But this time, it didn’t feel like more information. It was pure curiosity – what all learning should feel like.
I watched a cooking class and somehow I realized that playing guitar is all about precision. Speed will come naturally, just like with chopping shallots. Whatever shallots may be.
I also watched a photography course and I saw how thinking only about harmony or tension may free my mind to make better music. Just like thinking in terms of color, contrast and scale frees your mind to shoot better pictures.
I hope those new insights stick. They sure came the right way.
