My Mom reminded me recently that love is something you give, not seek.
We spend our lives seeking love and attention. They both feel so good. Yet, we’re confused about the way we get them.
It’s giving love and attention that makes you feel free, grateful and generous. It’s like a boomerang.
And it works every time. Unlike seeking love.
I, for one, constantly seek love from my closest people. Or I play music just to get the pleasure of being in the Flow.
But at the end of the day, I only get to keep the love I gave.
What does it mean to love something, anyway? Being patient, probably. And supportive. And forgiving. Focusing on the pros and ignoring the cons. Nurturing, instead of controlling it. And just spending time with it, not looking for anything in return.
Also, never giving up on it. The way you’d never give up on your child.
I should try this more often with music. And with my_self.
