Yesterday, I talked to my students about Jim Loehr’s idea that every type of growth happens by alternating between stress and recovery.
It’s a simple idea I already believed in. Yet, I ran into another dimension of its yesterday. Into a question I hadn’t asked myself… If recovery happens in your comfort zone, then stress should happen in your discomfort zone, right?
But where is my discomfort zone with music? Where exactly do I need to be to work on my musical skills? And what other discomfort zones do I need to visit more often?
I think my financial discomfort zone was sales. I got it now. People buy from their friends – just make more friends.
My social discomfort zone was marketing / storytelling. And marketing is writing – just be honest and consistent, and write only when en-teo-siastic.
